A Eslovênia é um pequeno país do Leste Europeu, limitado a norte pela Áustria, a leste pela Hungria, a leste e a sul pela Croácia e a oeste pela Itália e pelo Mar Adriático.

O país está localizado no encontro de quatro grandes regiões europeias: a região dosAlpes, a dinárica, a panónica e a mediterrânica.

A sua capital é Liubliana que também é a maior cidade do país.

Idioma

O idioma oficial do país é o Esloveno, que integra o grupo de línguas eslavas. O Húngaro e o Italiano possuem status de língua oficial em algumas regiões de grandes misturas étnicas ao longo das fronteiras com a Itália e a Hungria.

Religião

Eslovenos são, em sua maioria, tradicionalmente Cristã (91%).

A Eslovénia é uma república parlamentarista, possuindo na figura de chefe de governo o seu primeiro-ministro

A moeda vigente na Eslovénia na actualidade é o euro. Até o país passar a integrar a zona da moeda, a oficial era o tolar. A mudança aconteceu em 1 de Janeiro de 2007.

Economia

A indústria do país concentra-se principalmente na produção de produtos químicos, componentes de automóveis, produtos metálicos, aparelhos e utensílios eléctricos, mobiliário e têxteis.

The official language in Slovenia is Slovene, which is a member of the South Slavic language group.   Hungarian and Italian enjoy the status of official languages in the ethnically mixed regions along the Hungarian and Italian borders.

Traditionally, Slovenes are predominantly Roman Catholic.

Slovenia is the economic front-runner of the countries that joined the European Union in 2004, was the first new member which adopted the euro on 1 January 2007

The Slovenian head of state is the president, who is elected by popular vote every five years, and has mainly advisory and ceremonial duties. The executive branch is headed by the prime ministerand the council of ministers or cabinet, who are elected by the National Assembly.

 Economy

The country's industry is concentrated mainly in the production ofchemicals, auto components, metal products, electrical appliances and utensils, furniture and textiles.
